A veteran in Burlington, Vermont, said that a vandal removed his
"Trump 2020" flag from its flagpole, burned it and left it on his
front porch.

Gus Klein told local news outlet WCAX that when he awoke Sunday
morning, he noticed that his flagpole was on the ground.

Klein, who served two deployments in Afghanistan, said he isn't sure
if the flag was burned while laying on his porch, but that the alleged
vandalism was "not right."

"There is fear in my mind," he said. "We should be able to sleep at
night in our own property, so there is fear."

WCAX reported that the incident was being investigated by police, who
said lawn signs from both Democrats and Republicans have been knocked
down in the past.

Klein said that the incident won't stop him from campaigning for
President Trump.

His wife, Annmarie, told NECN that the incident was "violent," "scary"
and a form of bullying.

"We all get along," she said of her neighbors. "You agree to
disagree."

In a written statement to NECN, Vermont Democratic Party spokesman
Christopher Di Mezzo condemned the act.

"Difference of thought is what makes us average Americans. But itÂ’s
the level of respect with which we treat that difference that makes us
Vermonters, that makes us unique," he said.
